April Lockhart

April Lockhart (born July 4 April, 1995) started her musical journey as a 7th grader in which she began piano and guitar classes. At the age of 12 April came up with her first original song Different. She spent lots of time at 14 composing songs and experimenting with music. Then, she began to take trips to NY and LA along with her dad in order for them both write songs. April began including other topics in the book, Take My Hand, for those of her peers who struggled in the face of peer pressure, disability or even suicidal thoughts. Lockhart is a beauty and lifestyle influencer with an ever-growing fan base. She works with popular brand Ilia with whom she has a partnership as well as being a specialist in lifestyle. Her birth was without a left hand, and it's part of who she is--but it's hardly her whole story. The account on Instagram of Lockhart doesn't deny her disability. It also doesn't emphasize it. The message? It's crucial to understand that everyone has many faces, our identities are varied and we are much beyond our body. Lockhart said via video that she didn't want to be defined solely by her disability. She does not want to be a disability advocate who only talks about that. There are a variety of aspects of Lockhart. The issue doesn't affect my everyday routine. I carry on my business as usual and have developed different ways of adapting. In addition, I see it to be a vital part of myself. The journey of self-acceptance that Lockhart has taken is one that will last a lifetime, but she has been a source of inspiration for this purpose. Still she admits she's gone through phases with her body, at times, being unsure about wearing specific types of clothes showing off her arms. Now, though she dons anything she likes and uploads pictures of herself in these outfits on social networks with a sense of pride. One of the keys to self-love for her is that it's not a goal. But, this isn't typical for people that is prone to doubts. I believe that it's really vital to surround yourself those who can see and know your true heart.
